To Explore, To Create, To Communicate Auditions
PPCT participants are selected after general auditions held before each production. These auditions are thorough and examine candidates’ interest and attitude as well as their aptitude in the Music/Theatre Arts.
Most auditions at PPCT are designed so that any child can audition. Children do not need to have any experience and therefore, do not need to prepare things such as monologues, songs, or dance routines. At the audition, candidates participate in a physical and vocal warm-up routine and play theatre games. Auditions also involve reading sides from the script (for those who already know how to read).
Some productions are geared toward older and more advanced kids. Usually, these participants have been involved with PPCT for several years. High standards of discipline and commitment are expected. Auditions for these productions involve the following:
  • Musicals: Prepare sixteen bars of a song from a musical. Auditions also include dance routines and reading.
  • Plays: Prepare a monologue (no more than 1 1/2 minutes) from a classical or contemporary play depending on the production being produced.
